Myrtleford Ski Club May 2017 Newsletter

What is new for 2017?
Once again a good deal of work has been done over the summer months and you will see and feel several changes including:
*New carpet in lounge and dining rooms
*New BIG screen TV and DVD/BluRay player
*Trophy cabinet in TV room
*Further work on Room 8 upgrade (new shelving and bedheads)
*Re-allocation of cupboard spaces in kitchen -- providing more for some rooms and minimising room storage in centre bench
*Many smaller electrical jobs including powerpoints in kitchen near swing door for the espresso machine and a neater arrangement for the new TV, shifting powerpoint in laundry, new light in loft .
*Continuation of our bed upgrade with new beds in Rooms 1, 2, 4B, 5 and 7
PLEASE NOTE:  These new beds are LONG single beds which can be pushed together to form Queen beds.  As they are longer you are strongly advised to bring FLAT SHEETS rather than fitted ones.

Winter bookings, rates and managers
We are pleased to welcome Graeme and Barb Summers back for another season as managers of our lodge.

Winter booking dates and details are:
Shoulder 1 June - 15 July.
Peak 16 July - 9 September.
Shoulder 10 September - 31 October.

Most weekends are fairly heavily booked but there are still plenty of mid-week bookings available. Please contact Leonie  (03 5752 2280) until 20th June.  From then on you will need to contact Barb & Graeme at the lodge for further winter bookings. Phone 03 5758 3283.

PLEASE NOTE:  All money owed for accommodation must be paid within 14 days or bookings will be cancelled.

VALE BARRY GAVIN


On a very sombre note the club was saddened to hear of the recent sudden passing Barry Gavin.
Barry was an esteemed member of the club for over 60 years serving as a committee member for 9 years including four as Vice President during the 1970s.  Many long standing members will mourn his passing but also remember him very fondly.

In line with the family's wishes, in lieu of flowers, the club will be making a donation to  the Organ Transplant Program.

Our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Di and their children Sam, Eliza and Amy and their families.

Updates and reminders.

SUBSCRIPTIONS  A big thank you to the majority of members who have paid their annual subscription.  At the time of writing there are still a few outstanding and they have all been sent a reminder.
NOTE:  If subscriptions remain unpaid for two years the membership is cancelled and the member/s must re-apply for membership.  For this reason it is vital that members keep personal contact details up to date.
DOOR CODE.   Please check with the managers before arrival for the new winter code.
RACE WEEKEND. This year's theme is  Favourite Character  -- this could be animated, nursery rhyme,...  Brett Dobson will be the Race Captain again this year.  Lunch and dinner will be provided for everyone on the Saturday.

PLEASE:  Could all intending racers (whether or not you are staying in the lodge) send names to Chris Bacon (myrtsec@gmail.com) so that we can organise the race list and the various race divisions.
CLEANING WINTER 2017.  Following the very positive feedback received regarding last year's revision of the Managers Role to include the cleaning of bathrooms, toilets and kitchen appliances this will continue for the upcoming season.  PLEASE NOTE Members will still be required to do other chores including their own room, clean up any water on floor of showers after finishing and other tasks as set by the managers.
CONGRATULATIONS. To Stephen and Natalie Turra on the birth of Lucas Herbert on Feb 19.
