FAREWELL TO A MUCH LOVED FRIEND

Most will have heard already that in February, Phil Dodd passed away following his battle with cancer. Our former Lodge Manager and long-time friend to many in the Club was an icon of the Falls Creek community and our deepest sympathy goes to his entire family. Many Club Members have shared fond memories, including MSC Life Member Gloria Banks who shared these words:

We as members of The Myrtleford Ski Club will remember Phil Dodd in so many ways. As our Lodge Manager for many years, Phil was always so welcoming, ready to show you around, tell you your allocated duties and most importantly share a drink! As a Ski Patroller, he’d go out early to check the snow conditions for us, then return with his report. Each year Phil was responsible for setting the course for the Club races and he was always very encouraging for everyone to participate especially the children. The younger members were always kept in check too by Phil but he had an amazing rapport with all of them. His manner was always relaxed and friendly and there was always so much fun to be had staying at the lodge. Phil was indeed the life of the party!

We had been lucky enough to have visited Phil at his home in Port Elliott and watch him in action as a Real Estate agent conducting an auction. This was his “other” job!

What a friend to us all at the Lodge and elsewhere. We cherish the wonderful memories we have of him.

Loving thoughts go to Kerry, Patrick and Janis.

Have a lovely Easter everyone.

Stephanie Wood, on behalf of the Myrtleford Ski Club Committee
